Mocktails

I have a lot to say about drinking culture, but I’ll stop before I get on my soap box. Long story short, I believe that ABSOLUTELY NO ONE should feel ashamed, embarrassed, judged, or uncomfortable for not drinking. Maybe you don’t drink at all, maybe you have a sip here and there, maybe you actually enjoy the culture and community that come along with responsible drinking. Whatever it is, you are free to practice drinking in a way that works for your body and your lifestyle.

That being said, a great way to ween yourself off alcohol or to control your sugar intake is to make mocktails. Mocktails can be fun and exciting! You can even get creative and explore new recipes and flavors. I’ve listed a few of my favorites below, but the world is your oyster. My only tip is to remember that drinking juice is equivalent to drinking a can of soda when it comes to sugar, so I encourage you to practice mindfulness when choosing your ingredients and measurements.

  • Play around with fruits: muddle them or chop them

  • Try new seltzer waters and flavors: I’ve added a few brands below

  • Bring in the herbs: basil & rosemary are my favorite!

  • Shaken or stirred?

  • Ice or no ice?

  • Brew herbal tea for the base: I love going to a local tea shop and trying out some fruit forward herbal teas for my mocktails
