I came to yoga through my gut. Literally.

I’ve been trying to figure out my health for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I dealt with allergies and gut issues that no one could quite explain. I was constantly uncomfortable, reactive, and searching for answers. Around 15, I found yoga. At first, it was just movement, but it quickly became something much deeper. Yoga helped me connect with my body in a way I never had before, and it naturally led me to pay more attention to what I was putting into it. I tried everything — going gluten-free, testing for all sorts of intolerances — just trying to understand myself and feel at home in my own skin.

As I got older, I became more curious about how to nourish myself in a way that felt supportive, not restrictive. I moved away from diet culture and started learning how nutrition could serve me. How does this food make me feel? Does it energize me? Does it calm me? That curiosity led me to complete my yoga teacher training with CorePower Yoga in Washington, DC. I originally enrolled to deepen my own practice, but I realized how much I loved guiding others — helping them tune in and reconnect with their own bodies.

Even with yoga and mindful eating, my gut symptoms persisted. Bloating, discomfort, unpredictable flares — I started working with both medical and naturopathic doctors to dig deeper, and eventually I was diagnosed with SIBO. Going through treatment was challenging, physically and emotionally, but it also clarified my purpose. I realized how many people silently struggle with digestive issues and feel dismissed or confused. I saw how yoga helped regulate my nervous system and ease my symptoms, and I became passionate about helping others navigate this complex, often frustrating journey.

That’s what led me to get certified in nutrition and health coaching and ultimately launch Wellness By Sav — a space where we work with the body, not against it. Alongside this, I pursued my passion for global health nutrition and completed my master’s degree to better understand food systems and policy. Because wellness isn’t just personal — it’s structural, cultural, and environmental, too.

Now, I understand my body in a way I never did before. I eat intuitively, prioritizing whole foods that work for me. I move intuitively, integrating yoga as a lifestyle rather than just a workout. I know that healing isn’t linear, and it’s definitely not one-size-fits-all. Our genetics, environments, stress, and lived experiences all shape how we feel every day.

Recently, I was diagnosed with PCOS. My SIBO still flares, my body changes, and I continue adjusting and learning. We’re all imperfect, and Wellness By Sav embraces that. This work isn’t about quick fixes or band-aid solutions. It’s about building a relationship with yourself — one rooted in curiosity, compassion, and consistency. My role is to hold space for you to show up for yourself, again and again, as a daily ritual.

Wellness isn’t about perfection. It’s about peace. And learning to feel at home in your own body.
