Matcha Latte with Coconut, cinnamon, and honey

If you’re like me and you tend to feel bogged down by the caffeine high that coffee gives you, or maybe you just need a coffee detox once in a while, then the matcha latte might be the perfect alternative for you. A matcha latte does contain some caffeine so rest assured you’ll still benefit from a bit of a pep in your step. However, it’s made from green tea leaves which tends to leave people feeling a more subtle and prolonged caffeine high, rather than the sudden jolt that coffee can provide. What I hear a lot from coffee drinkers is that they don’t want to give up their morning ritual. Luckily, making a matcha latte can also provide the perfect calming morning routine. Enjoy it hot or cold!

INGREDIENTS

Unsweetened coconut milk (1-2 cups)
Matcha powder (1 tsp)
Boiled water (2-3 TBS)
Honey (1 tsp)
Cinnamon (1 tsp)

MAKE

Pour hot or cold coconut milk into a regular glass (with ice cubes if cold); set aside
Scoop matcha into a small bowl (I recommend scooping the match into a fine mesh sieve as you scoop it into the bowl to get all the clumps out)
Add cinnamon and honey
Add water; stir with matcha whisk or small regular baking whisk until the powder has completely dissolved (about 1 minute)
Pour matcha paste into glass of coconut milk
Enjoy!
